This was a assignment I had at SVA. The name of the project was "jargon bubble", we had to create a spread for a newspaper that was on the subject of well, anything. My friends Alex, Elisa and myself chose to team up and show an idea over three spreads. Our idea was a visual telephone of sorts, with myself hailing from the US, Elisa from France, Alex from Germany, we wanted to see how our interpretations translated.
It's hard to explain the process we finally decided on, but I'll attempt it below.
We asked our instructor, Tracy Boychuk, to give each of us one word. We could not tell the other two in our group what our word was. We then drew an order, Obviously the person with the word would go first, but then we had to draw to see who would go 2nd and 3rd on a specific word. (we would all work on all three, but in different orders).
Finally, for each word we drew a medium, Typography, Photography, and Illustration.
At no point were we allowed to tell the other person what the word was, They had to interpret whatever had been done and then add something to it.
After we were done Tracy asked Alex and I to design the final book that would house all of the classes pages, so here you see our 3 words as well as the cover, table of contents, and back page.
